| DIgital Signage is coming and is already here! There are mis-conceptions on what it will do, however. Most people don't have the time nor the patience to sit and wait for all your fancy transitions, animations and scrolling screens to go past before they lose interest.
Signage still needs to remember why it is there: To give out information, and give it out effectively. I have taken to the pattern of designing like I would normally for print, the difference being the sign will be presented in a digital format. The strengths of a digital sign is that they can be changed and altered in the blink of an eye, with content that is relevant for the time, place, and audience. Have a menu? You can change from breakfast to lunch in a fraction of a second, and from a remote location. No ladders, no physical moving of signs, etc. I currently work with Dotronix Digital Signage on their signage work, and you can contact them for more information. Visit www.dotronix-ds.com
